Problem

International Relations theory traditionally analyzed nation-state behavior through realist/idealist frameworks without examining how gender assumptions shaped foreign policy motivations, requiring theoretical framework that revealed these hidden dynamics.

What I Did

Researched gender theory applications to international relations scholarship | Developed heterophallocentric binarism framework for analyzing state behavior | Wrote Master's thesis examining IR theory and praxis through gender lens

Impact

Earned Master's degree in International Relations and European Studies from UTA | Contributed to critical IR scholarship examining theoretical assumptions | Demonstrated research and analytical capabilities at graduate level

Lessons

Three years of graduate work taught me that questioning foundational assumptions reveals more than accepting conventional frameworks—whether analyzing nation-states or designing user interfaces, asking 'what are we taking for granted?' often matters most. The culmination of three years of work, this 'post-postmodern' reevaluation of International Relations posits gender as a useful analytical tool for comparing the motivations and behaviors of nation-states.
