Problem
The existing header had become too complex for changing user behavior and new platform expectations. It needed to better support search, favorites, mobile usage, and a cleaner enterprise navigation model.
What I Did
Produced a redesign rationale deck and responsive appendix showing how the header could simplify tabs, better align with Office 365 patterns, improve visibility of favorites and search, and scale across multiple viewport sizes.
Impact
The work reframed the header as a strategic control surface rather than a static banner, helping stakeholders evaluate the redesign in terms of usability, responsiveness, and product ecosystem fit.
Lessons
Header redesign succeeds when grounded in actual usage patterns. Simplification is easier to defend when it is tied to analytics, research, and changing device contexts.
This redesign effort rethought the enterprise portal header for a more modern ecosystem shaped by Office 365, analytics, and device diversity. The work focused on simplifying navigation, strengthening high-use actions, and preparing the portal for responsive behavior.
