This site is still in alpha phase, but published to show the new face. I'm actively working to iron out bugs, rewrite, pour in content (PDFs, videos, slideshows, images) and improve and polish things.

Mortgage Lender Site Copy

Problem

OnLoan.com, venture-funded online mortgage lender during dot-com boom, needed educational website content explaining complex mortgage products to consumers unfamiliar with home lending, balancing thoroughness with accessibility for web audience.

What I Did

Co-wrote educational website content explaining mortgage products and processes | Created web copy balancing mortgage complexity with consumer accessibility | Organized content supporting online lender's 'Mortgages in Minutes' positioning

Impact

Enabled consumers to understand mortgage options through online education | Supported early dot-com effort to bring financial services to web | Created content foundation for venture-funded online lending startup

Lessons

OnLoan crashed and burned like many dot-coms, but the lesson holds: complex financial products need plain language education. Writing about mortgages for web audiences requires stripping jargon while maintaining accuracy—harder than it sounds. OnLoan.com was the quintessential dot-com venture, an online mortgage lender flush with cash investment and hope, as the new mille ium promised a gilded age of financial services on the web. Co-wrote educational text for the education section of an early online mortgage lender's web site.
